About

While we are based in Sacramento, members of Voices of California come from throughout the region. We meet every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 10:00 to sing and perform a cappella harmonies predominantly in the barbershop style. We take pride in our affiliation with the world's largest singing fraternity - the Barbershop Harmony Society.

In addition to locking and ringing great chords under the direction of our fantastic director, Gabe Caretto, Voices of California offers many exciting, fun, and educational opportunities. Along with our pursuit of musical excellence we develop emcees, creative performance coaches and a cappella chorus directors. Of special importance, we promote and support vocal music arts programs for youth both locally and through our national charity, the Harmony Foundation. Whether for our audiences, upcoming generations of singers or ourselves, we are committed to the enrichment of lives through singing!

We perform in a variety of venues. These range from local shows and community events to Barbershop Harmony Society contests at locations throughout the state. When we qualify, we even perform on the big stage – the International Contest held annually over the July 4 week. We particularly enjoy presenting our self-produced shows.

Annually we have approximately 50 weekly rehearsals and roughly a dozen performances. The expectation is that members will participate in a minimum of 75% of these activities. In addition, members will average 8 - 10 hours per month outside of rehearsal to permit them to maintain proficiency on our performing repertoire.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact our membership team.
