Due to circumstances beyond his control to include the devastating Paradise Fire, the Chico Chapter has turned in its Charter but the effort to keep it going must be acknowledged and the years of joyous singing celebrated. 2015 | Bryan Forbes | The Association of the Far Western District Chapters of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America hereby confers on Bryan Forbes the 2015 President's Award for his visionary service as Far Western District Events Manager.
Bryan revised the contracting method of our District conventions by establishing a 10 year look ahead venue cycle that rotates between Northern and Southern California as well as Arizona. By having the convention locations locked in years ahead, attendees can better plan for their travel needs, and most importanly, the local host chapters are relieved from having to search out suitable convention and hotel venues and to negotiate the highly detailed contract terms on an annual basis with these entities. Bryan also led the effort to revise & update the financial budgeting and reporting methods with a host of new electronic forms for the use of the host chapters. These new tools will provide for improved tracking of convention revenues and costs. This visibility will help ensure that our registration fees are being utilized in the most effective manner possible. Presented in appreciation by Allan Webb, Far Western District President |

There are so many of you who perform great deeds for your District and your brother in harmony, that its sometimes difficult to single out one person. But, Ive found a man who manages to stand out for his many accomplishments. This man has been a member of the Society for some fifteen years and has been an active and enthusiastic participant the entire time. He has been an active quartet man from the get-go with several successful competition and show quartets. Hes been a mainstay in the administration of each chapter he has belonged to. and been instrumental in the chartering of two new chapters as well as singing in an International medalist chorus. Hes also just assumed the position of a frontline chorus director. As if all this werent enough, hes also devoted hours of time and energy to help indoctrinate the youth of our District in the barbershop style working and volunteering at youth camps and schools. Some years back he took over the reins of running the Districts High School Quartet Contest and even now is working to re-structure that event to make it even better. Im sure by now you recognize this man, and its my honor to present the Far Western District Presidents Award for 2009 to Bruce Sellnow. |
