The Far Western District and the BHS have lost an icon. Doug Maddox, a fixture in both District and Society event production for decades and a show tech genius, has lost his multi-year battle with cancer.
Beyond his technical skills and organizational abilities in the event space, Doug was one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet, and was well known for his wordplay and puns/stories which were used to great effect in Masters Of Harmony shows.
Many barbershoppers will remember Doug sweeping up the stage after particularly messy quartet or chorus performances involving confetti, to the chants of "Doug! Doug! Doug!" from the crowd.
We are all saddened by his loss, and send our sincerest condolences to his wife, Jan.
